>V' : ' AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. BRISK BUSINESS YESTERDAY. Business was active on tho Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, interest being shown in almost all sections. In War Loans, 1936, per cents, were done at the current price of £lOl 2s 6d, but sellers withdrew after the first call. Offers for 1939, per cents, were advanced by 5s to £96 15s, without business resulting. In banks Commercials of Australia changed hands at 2S}s 9d, compared with 30s lOd at the last sale in March. The market for New South Wales firmed slightly during tho day, opening at £46 and £45 ss, and closing at £46 5s and £45 7s 6d, but no sales were made. Offers for New South Wales rights were also increased by 5s to £25 at the last call, sellers being firm at £26. New Zealands closed at 60s 9d and 60s 3d, after buyers had offered 60s 6d at the second call. Demand for the D preference issue, 5s paid, firmed from 10s 3d at the first call to 10s 9d at the last, sellers lis 6d. In insurance there was no change in rates, and no business passed. In loan and agency Goldsbrougb, Morts were done at 50s, being threepence less than tho last sale in March. In coal business was more than usually animated. Waipas showed a hardening tendency, selling at 14s 3d, compared with 13s 9d and 14s last month. Westports were done at 34s 6d, compared with 35s 9d a month ago. A sale of Westport Stocktons, preference issue, at 3s was reported. In snipping Hudd&rt-Parkers changed hands at 475, and the market, which opened at 47s 6d and 46s 3d, closed at 47s 3d and 46s 6d. Northern Steam, contributing, sold at 6s 3d, with further buyers at that price, sellers 6s sd. In miscellaneous offers for ; Colonial Sugars were increased by £1 to £53. but no holders wore revealed. ..There was a sale of Sanford, Limited, at 225, an increase of threepence on the previous transaction. Wilsons Cements were done at 34s 6d. In mining Alburnias changed hands at the recently current rate of 4s 2d. In Australian mining Mount Lyells had reported sale at 27s 9d, the sellers' price, the market closing at 28s and 27s 3d.
