SHARES IN AN ESTATE.

VARIATION OF WILL SOUGHT. APPLICATION BY FAMILY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. An application under the Family Protection Act, 1903, was made by the widow and two sons of the late Captain W. P. Collins, a former Union Steam Ship Company captain, in the Supreme Court to-day. The application was for a larger share in the estate. Under the will, which was made in 1923, three years bofore Captain Collins' deatn, the testator gave his widow the right to live in a house in Waipori Street, and gave her an annuity of £3 a week. To each of his two sons he gave £24 a year until they attained the age of 21 years. He bequeathed five oil paintings to the Sailors' Home at Lyttelton, and £IOO to a Salvation Army officer in Wellington. Tho residue of his estate, amounting to approximately £9OOO, was left to the Kilwinning Lodge (Canterbury). After hearing argument, the Chief Justice, Sir Charles Skerrett, reserved decision. Mr. E. Perry appeared for the widow, Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell for the sons, William Thomas and Thomas Alexander; Mr. Kelly for the Public Trustee, the executor; and Mr. H. H. Cornish for the lodge.
