The Daily Mail says that when it is remembered that the smaller cricket ball was intended to as.sist the bowler, it is ironical that 39 centuries have been compiled in six days. The recent "billiardtable" wickets are partly responsible. Older critics express the opinion that the real reason is that there is a dearth of bowlers. SPEEDY MOTOR RACING. STRATTON"S PERFORMANCE. A. and N.Z. , SYDNEY. May 16 On the Maroubrs. speedway on Saturday Spencer Stratton (New Zealand) won the all-powers solo handicap of five miles in 3m 10s.
