TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME. OPENING OF COMPETITIONS. THE SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. The Auckland Rugby League will open its 1927 club season to-morrow, when both senior and Junior competitions will be played. At Carlaw Park tho chief attraction will bo tho meeting of City and Devonport, and tho match should prove an excellent attraction. On No. 2 ground at Carlaw Park Marist will play Athletic, and at the Domain, Richmond will meet Newton. In the B section Mangere will play Northcote at \ ictoria Park, Point Chevalier will meet Otahubu at the Otahuhu trotting ground, and Ellerslie will play Parnell at Ellerslie. An echo of last Saturday's match between the Auckland members 01 the A'ew Zealand ieara and an Auckland representative team was heard at last evening s meeting of the Ne%v Zealand League. Air. W. Nichol. West Const, asked wiry J. Mensies, of South Auckland, had played for New Zealand, when it was understood that the New Zealand team would be composed purely cf Auckland players. In answer to a question, the cnairman, Mr. C. A. Sneddon, said he notified the Auckland League that Menzies was cot eligible to take part in the match. Mr. N Culpan said :t was apparent that the Auckland League had flouted the authority of the New Zealand Council, and he suggested that the South Auckland League should share a portion o? the gate men.'y. Auckland, said his league was under the impression thai Mensues was eligible to play for New Zealand. li was decided to ask the Auckland League for an explanation of its action in playing Menzies.
