MR. AYSON'S RETIREMENT. VALUABLE SERVICES RENDERED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLINGTON. Tuesd«y The retirement of Mr. L. P. Ay,son, thief inspector of fisheries, on Saturday brings to a close a career which has been of the greatest value to Now Zealand fisheries. Not only was Mr. Ayson actively interested in the first Irout brought to New Zealand by tho Otugo Acclimatisation Society, but ho has also successfully acclimatised the quiniiftt and Atlantic salmon, a feat that has roused tho admiration of authorities the world over. He has also saved the, North Island rock oyster beds from extermination and has made their artificial cultivation, a success.
