POWER BOARD ELECTION.
ANOMALY IN WAITEMATA. REPRESENTATION QUESTION. A representation anomaly in connection with the Waitemata It.lectric-Power Board has arisen as a result of last week's election. Owing to the defeat of Mr. E. C. Walton, of Northcote, and the election in his place of Mr. J. D. Morison, of Takapuna, the board now includes three Takapuna representatives, and only one representing Northcote and Birkenhead. Commenting on this position at yesterday's meeting of the board, Mr. S. E. Kennings said it seemed strange that Takapuna, with only 400 consumers, should have three representatives, while Northcote and Birkenhead, with twice that number of consumers, and ti population equal to that of Takapuna, should have to be content with one. The anomaly was even more noticeable when it was 'borne in mind that Devonport had the same representation as Takapuna, although it had a population of 10,000, and consumers totalling 1800. The speaker advocated a system of election by wards. The chairman, Mr. J. W. Hay den, said the matter would be dealt with at the next meeting.
