AMERICAN FARMERS.
PARTY TO VISIT EUROPE. TOUR OF INVESTIGATION. A. and N.Z. CHICAGO. May 1. Five hundred farmers from 45 States will sail for Europe on July 30, under the auspices of the American Farm Bureau Federation, with the co-operation of the Department of Agriculture. They will visit seven countries. The party will inquire into the agricultural conditions and methods of marketing and irrigation in Denmark, large drainage works in Holland, afforestation in Germany, terracing in Rhineland, landscape gardening in Britain and France, and tho reclamation of waste land and dairying in the several Scandinavian countries. The American farmers will spend seven weeks in their investigations. They will visit 43 cities, in order to see the methods in use for the sale of agricultural products to the consumer. The trip is a sequel to surveys by experts which have indicated that many successful agricultural practices are in operation in Europe which could probably be adapted to American conditions. It is desired that the American farmers should make first-hand investigations.
