WEATHER IN APRIL.

RAINFALL ABOVE AVERAGE. GENERALLY MILD MONTH. NO SUNSHINE ON SIX DAYS. The total rainfall for April, as recorc ] ec j at the Albert Park Observatory by Captain D. McLeay, the official observer was 3.93 in., which is 16 points above the average for the month, and 2.38 in. above the fall during the corresponding period of last year. The month was generally mild, although several boisterous days were experienced. Rain fell on 18 days, the maximum fall for any one day being .58in. on April 24. There was a fair amount of sunshine, the mean maximum temperature being 65 degrees, and the mean minimum 54.7 degrees. The extreme maximum temperature was recorded as 70 degrees on April 15, 23 and 24, and the extreme minimum as 41 degrees on the last day of the month. The barometer was generally high, the mean reading being 30.014 in. The highest reading was 30.391 in. on April 1, and the lowest 29.468 in. on April 26. The total sunshine during the month was 125 hours 90 minutes, the maximum recorded on one day being nine hours, 3Q minutes. No sunshine was recorded on six days.
