MISHAP ON RAILWAY.
GOODS WAGGON DERAILED. TWO EXPRESSES HELD UP. LONG DELAY NEAR MARTON. fBX TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 MARTON, Saturday. A waggon of a goods train which left Taihape for Wellington at 3 o'clock this morning was derailed one and a-half miles north of Porewa, near Marton. No one was injured, but considerable damage was done to the permanent way and traffic was dislocated. The south-bound limited express, which was duo at the scene of the mishap at about 5.30 a.m., was held up for several hours and the ordinary express due there at about 7.35 was also delayed. The wreckage was cleared away and both expresses proceeded on to Marton, whei'e the passengers had breakfast. The limited express left Marton for Wellington at 9.30 a.m. A mixed train which was to have left Taihape at 5 a.m. for Marton, where it was due at 7.20 a,in., was also considerably delayed. The cause of the mishap is stated to have been the breaking of an axle on a waggon.
