A WOULD PAGEANT.

A unique and most attractive entertainment in the lorm of a World Pageant will be given ;n the Town Hal! on the evomngs of May 11, 12 and 13 to raise funds for the Auckland Plunket Society. The various suburbs and parishes of the city are co-operating in the urangement of the programme, which is, tinder the direction of Mrs. W, 11. Parkes, president of the Plunket Society. In the pageant 17 countries will lie represented and the performers will number 400. The items will include national dances in costume and episodes presenting historical incidents to the accompaniment of national music. The stage will bs arranged as a sylvan glade leading from a village green, and as one group of performers disappears up the winding glades another will take its nlace without an interval, the stage properties being arranged by inconspicuous figures in brown and green jerkins and cowls. The idea of a continuous pageant thus portrayed was successfully carried out recently in England at Hyde Park and also at an Ice Festival in Belgium. Epsom; "French Peasant Carnival," All Saints parish " Norwegian Festival," Y.W.C.A., "A Day with the Eskimos," Young Citizens' League; "Swedish Midsummer Day," Diocesan Old Girls' Association; "Russian Festival," Felix Entertainers: "Spanish Fiesta," Remnera; "American Cake Walk," St. Mark's parish; " Samoan Manluuhi Saa," Mrs, Barber; Japanese Holiday," St. Mark's parish; "A Maori Nga Xgahua," Maori Hoys and Girls' Schools; "A' Classic Greek Anthem," Girl>" Grammar School; " Britannia and Her Colonies," with Mrs, Parkes as Britannia.
