Business on the Auckland sharemarket on Saturday morning was fairly active. 1 here was inquiry for most classes of Government War Loans and Inscribed Stocks at late rates, but holders did not quote. In banks Aasfcralasias sold at £l4 14s, with further demand at £l4 12s, sellers not ;quoting. N«w South Wales at £SO 10s failed to attract offers. New Zealands wete available at 60s, buyers 59s 9d. In insurance South British had sellers at 54s 6d, buyers 53s 6d. In coal Hikuraiigi. A pref. sold at 2s Id. In gas Aucklandsi changed hands at 23s 3d, the current price, more being wanted at that figure, sellers 23s sd. In timber Kauris were done at 25s 6d. In miscellaneous there was demand for Colonial Sugars at £59 10s, but sellers did not respond. Taranaki Oils were quoted at 12s, no offers being made. In mining Waihis had sale at 18s. The following sales took place:—Bank of Australasia, £l4 14s j Farmers' Cooperative Auctioneering, B preferred, 16s 3d; Auckland Gas, 23s 3d; Kauri Timber, 35s 6d; Lucky Shot, contributing, 2s 4d; Kawarau, 3s Id; Waihi, 18s; Hikurangi Coal, A preference, 2s Id.
