PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
SERVICES AT ST. ANDREW'S. THE EIGHTIETH ANNIVERSARY. Tha celebration of the 80th anniversary of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Presbyterian Church in the Auckland Province, was commenced yesterday when services were conducted in St. Andrew's by the Rev. James Aitken, of Gisborne, moderator-elect of the General Assembly. At the morning service when there was a large congregation, Mr. Aitken, in eloquent prayers, gave thanks for the Divine support the church and its workers had received. Preaching upon the first chapter of the first epistle of Paul to the Ephesians, Mr. Aitken described the gratitude of the apostle for his spiritual blessings in spite of the great tribulations he suffered. He urged his hearers to be grateful for the many blessings they received and not to be discontented because there were some things they were not given. At the evening service, where there was again a large attendance, Mr. Aitken preached upon the subject of faith. An anniversary gathering of Presbyterians will be held in the Town Hall this evening, when addresses will be given by Mr. Aitken and the Revs. J. W. Shaw, D. C. Herron and J. Lamb Harvey.
