CONDITIONS IN THE CITIES. INSPECTION BY MINISTER. [Br TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATIOH. 1 CIIRISTCHr-RCH. Sunday. In the course of a discussion on the Pent Restriction Bill in the House of Representatives last vear, some members urged that a commission should be appointed to inquire into housing conditions generally, and particularly with reference to the more thickly-populated centres. The Minister of Labour, Hon. G. J. Anderson, promised then that he would visit the four principal citic-s and inspect the areas that particularly call foi attention. Bofore leaving Dunedin yesterday the Minister, accompanied by the local members, visited several areas in that city where housing 'conditions were considered to be not all that could be desired. The Minister will make a similar inspection in Cbristchureh to morrow.
