OPPOSITION WIN BY-ELECT! ON (Received April 25, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z.-Sun. VANCOUVER, April 24. A message from St. Johns, Newfoundland, says that as a result of a byelection for the eastern St, .Johns seat, held to test public opinion after the refusal of the Opposition to accppt the invitation of the Prime Minister, Mr. W. S. Monroe, to join a coalition Government, the Opposition candidate was elected. This has ireduced the Government's majority in the House o£ Assembly to one.
