THE RANDWICK MEET I IMG. : LIMERICK DEFEATED. PIASTOON WINS SYDNEY CUP. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, April 23. After two postponements owing to unfavourable weather, the second - day's racing of the Australian Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting wis brought off at Randwick to-day. Though fine weather prevailed to-day the atmosphere was invested with a touch of winter. Tho attendance was Estimated at 80,000 Tho race track was on this heavy side. With tho exception of the Sydney Cup New Zealand's representation was small. Eighteen horses lined up tor the cup, and after a little trouble a good start was effected. Piastoon immediately went to the front and held that positioA all the way. Limerick, Count Cavour and Battlement were among tho bunch passing the stand the first time. Going along the back Bunkie went up behind Piastoon. and the pace increased. Piastoon led into the straight, followed by Heroic, Bunkie, Limerick. Luddenliaro, Valamita and Imitator. In a hard finish Limerick and Tibbie challenged the leader, but Piastoon had threequarters of a length to spare at the post, with Tibblo a head behind Limerick. Tho time. 3.335. was the slowest recorded since 1015. Aberfeldy made a poor showing in the steeplechase and finished many lengths behind the rest of tho field, except Minterno and Monte Carlo, both of whom l.ost their riders. When the field settled down Piastoon was in front, and held that position passing the stand, followed by Woolita, Johnnie Jones and Heroic. Tho pace was slow till turning out at the back stretch, when several of flic rear horses, including Bunkie, Imitator and Limerick, came up. Piastoon showed the way into the straight, with Limerick fourth. In an exciting finish Piastoon won by threequarters of a length, with Tibbie a head away third. Time. 3,33!. FIRST STEEPLECHASE.
