HOSTEL AT MILFORD SOUND
CONSTRUCTION APPROVED. DECISION OF THE CABINET. [by telegeaph.—-own correspondent.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The erection of a modern hostel for tourists at Milford Sound was urged by a deputation which recently waited on the Prime Minister and tbe Minister of Public Works at Invercargill. The Hon. W. Nosworthy, Minister Charge of the Tourist Department, has now informed Sir Joseph Ward that Cabinet has approved the construction of an up-to-date hostel as suggested, and the Public Works Department has been instructed to proceed with plans and specifications as speedily as possible.
The Minister adds that he hopes that the calling of tenders will not long be delayed. "I have for a long time realised," says Mr. Nosworthy, "that an up-to-date hostel-at Milford Sound is a necessity, and I am certain that, when erected, it will be found to be a payable proposition.'*
