STOCKS AND SHARES.
1 i AUCKLANC STOCK EXCHANGE. THE WEEK'S TRANSACTIONS, An advance to £sl in tho price for Bank of New South Wales shares, and a, repetition of the demand for Colonial Sugars at £6O 10s, and later at £6O, were the outstanding incidents on the Auckland sriaremarket yesterday. Sale of the bank shares at the figure mentioned was made at the mid-day call, the high selling price being in anticipation of the issue of further shares in the bank at par, £2O, at the end of the month. Additional shares were sought at £49 15s, but sellers did not quote. The enhanced offers for tho Colonial Sugars are in response to the announcement that iit is proposed to seek tho consent of shareholders at the half-yearly meeting next month to capitalise £975,000 from the reserve funds of the company by issuing 48,750 shares at £2O each in the proportion of one share to every five now held. Following is a summary of transactions since Friday of last week. In the second column is given the return, based on the last dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other terminable securities the return includes redemption. The first column gives tho figure at which the latest sale was made during the week:— Latest Sale. Return.
