THE WINTER SPORTS GIRL.

The girl who indulges in sports and yet wishes to look her best dancing in the evening must remember that winter winds can be very unkind to a fine delicate skin. Powder, whether liquid or dry, will not improve a complexion that has become harsh and rough through contact with the weather, and nothing looks more unattractive than a weather-beaten face above a soft, smooth neck and shoulders. If you are an enthusiast at sports remember that face cream is your best friend. Not vanishing cream, but a good greasy cream, containing plenty of good oil. Use this lavishly morning and night, and when you are applying it to your face do not forget your neck, around the ears, and beneath the chin, for this is a part which is very liable to become red and rough. Water should never be applied to the skin when fresh in from playing games. It is best to cleanse the face and throat with warm milk and fine oatmeal, mixed to a thin paste. Rub this into the skin,, then rinse off by dabbing with a piece of cotton wool dipped in warm milk. Night Treatment.

Every night feed the face and throat liberally with cream. Wring a piece of Turkish towelling out in very hot water and hold it to the face, so that the skin may become warm and moist. Then smear tho cream over it and leave for two or three minutes. This enables the pores of the skin to absorb as much as they can. Then, with the tips of the fingers, work the cream in and wipe off with a soft cloth. This is a far more effective method of cleansing tho face than washing with soap and water. When dressing for open-air games in winter let tho foundation for your complexion powder be a greasy, instead of a vanishing, cream. If the cream is applied evenly, and after being left on for a minute or two the face is wiped over with a soft cloth, and the powder dusted on, there will be 110 suggestion of "shine" on the skin, and it will he amply protected from the sharpest wind. Before washing the hands, after outdoor sports, rub a little cream into the fingers and backs, rubbing well into the pores. If you do this regularly you will never suffer w4th red hands, however cold the weather.
