ARREARS OF MAINTENANCE.
JUDGMENT GIVEN FOR £442.
PROCEEDINGS IN CHRISTCHURCH.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CHRISTCHUBCH, Friday.
Judgment in a claim made by Mrs. Eleanor Elizabeth Smith against her husband, Herbert Francis Smith, Taiporohenui, near Hawera, for £495 arrears of maintenance under an agreement made in 1918, was given in the Supreme Court to-day. Plaintiff was given judgment for £442, calculated at £6 10s a month from March, 1921, to November, 1926. Last week an order was made for maintenance in her favour at £6 10s a month from November 28, 1926. "Defendant's conduct shows clearly, not that he was putting an end to a temporary agreement, but that he was shuffling out of a permanent one," said Mr. Justice Alpers, in giving judgment.
