TAKAPUNA TRANSPORT.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR FARES. THROUGH TICKETS TO BE ISSUED. The conference between the manager of the Takapuna Tramways and Ferry Company (Mr. J. Kerr) and Mr. A. H. Smith, owner of the Yellow buses, regarding their co-ordinated arrangement for traffic between Milford and Bayswater, took place yesterday, and resulted in an agreement that Mr. Smith shall work from Monday next to the new time-table of the ferry company, which provides for a 20-minuto service in the rush hours and half-hour trips for the rest of the day. The question of the time-table for a service between Dovonport and Takapuna was left open for further discussion. Arrangements were made for the issue of through tickets for steamer and bus at the hours at which the traffic is to be carried on by Mr. Smith, on the following basis:—Auckland to Milford, 12-trip tickets, 7s 6d; to Strand, 7s; to Hauraki Road, 6s 6d; to Belifiont, ss. Out of these rates the ferry company is to receive a uniform 3s. tts own rates for the hours of running by the steam trams remain unaltered. Weekly through tickets are also to be issued for the ferry-tram service. It was agreed with M|. Smith ihat the situation shall be reviewed in six months, when any reduction the financial results will allow is to be made. Rumours were current yesterday that the Dervonporfc Ferry Company intends to place a fleet of motor-cars on the Devon-port-Takapuna service. The manager of the company would neither confirm nor contradict the report. He said the company's arrangements would be made known in duo course.
