SYDNEY'S LORD MAYOR.
DRASTIC MOVE IN UNION. INCIDENT OF ROYAL WELCOME. (.Received April 7, 8.45 p.m.) A and N.Z. SYDNEY. April 7. The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Mr. J. H. Mostyn, who is also assistant-secretary of the Electrical Trades Union, welcomed the Duke and Duchess of York with all the pomp and splendour of medieval times, in defiance of a mandate from the Trade? and Labour Council. It was reported that Mr. Mostyn had been suspended bv his union, but the president of the Electrical Trades Union states that he has not been suspended from the assistant-secretaryship. A motion in favour of his suspension was moved, but the president ruled that, as the motion involved serious and drastic actio*) against an official, notice would have to be given before the matter could be decided. , It therefore stands as a notice of motion for discussion ?t the next monthly meeting.
