MOUNT EDEN AFFAIRS.

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. FINANCES IN GOOD POSITION. The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Ms. E. H. i Potter, presiding. The financial position as disclosed by the Finance Committee's report was regarded as highly satisfactory. All accounts were in credit and the council 'had been operating well within its income. The foreman of works reported that tho work of building rockeries and levelling the surface of the new tennis courts at Nicholson Park was being advanced. The metalling and bituminising of Marlborough Street from Burnley Terrace to the intersection with Bellwood Avenue was now completed. The building inspector reported that 51 building permits of a total value of £13,831 had been issued last month. The Mount Albert Borough Council said it was prepared to contribute half i the cost of laying bitumen in Raleigh Street, on winch its boundary abuts. It was decided to accept the offer. It was decided not to contribute toward the fund for the equipment of wireless at the hospital, it being stated that the council's annual subscription of £SOOO should be sufficient to cover such expenditure. It was decided to accept the tender of J. J. Craig, Limit edy at £I7OO for concrete work on Bellwood Avenue.
