FALL FROM A TRAIN.

: SCHOOLGIRL'S SAD END, INSTANTANEOUS. DEATH. PUKEKOHE STATION , FATALITY. .[by telv-gkaph.—own correspondent,] PUKEKOHE, Thursday. A sad fatality occurred, as the early morning train frotn Auckland was approaching the Pukekohe station shortly after nine a.m. to-day. < Asch6oigirl, i aged L 4 years, Li'ly Isabella Reid, it'll | from the platform of a passenger ■carI riage. Apparently she was caught by the wheels of the carriage and killed instantly. Her body was terribly ' mutilated, while Iter dress was torn off,. The deceased was one of a number of Pukekohe Technical High School pupils from the Papakura, and Drury districts who travel by this train daily to school Apparently nobody saw Use-acci-dent, bub it is stated that, the deceased and another girl left their seats presumably with the intention of being the first of the part;? to alight :• at the station. The other. girl went " right through to the next carriage, and when j she looked again the deceased, who had stayed on the platform of the first carriage, had disappeared. The matter was reported to the stationmaster, Mr. A. E. Lovell, immediately | the train arrived at the station, and j two porter;-, Messrs. C, Lock and R. Elliott, were despatched along the line to investigate. They found the body-of ; the girl in the watertable about 100 yds. j beyond the overhead bridge, at the north end of the station yard. | The deceased's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jaines G. Reid, of Pong;?-, and she had been residing with her grandfather, Mr. John Pulman, of Ramarama, where she, was within daily travelling, distance of the high school, via Drury.
