THAMES TO AUCKLAND ROAD.
Sir, —The completion of the metalling of this road has been looked 011 as a most important matter. It was promised last winter and then when that was found to bo impossible, 110 one had any doubt about the completion this summer. I 'was down yesterday. The contractors have finished their work to the quarry and have apparently left. Large heaps of metal have been stacked alongside the road, but a mile of road, and one of the worst pieces, is untouched. I was told they were arranging to make provision for a crossing by the Paeroa rail in 20 years' time. - In any case unless an immediate and very powerful move is made to get this piece completed within the next three months, all traffic will be blocked ns usual for the winter. Traveller.
