MOTOR-DRIVERS PROSECUTED

A number of drivers of motor vehicles were prosecuted in the Police Court yesterday for a variety of breaches of the traffic by-laws. For dangerous driving, Humphrey Y. Stevenson and Robert Owen Moir were each fined £4; lan B. Stewart, John W. Garmson, Robert N. Vickerman, Arnold Y. Schischka, Selwyn J. Robinson, Leonard T. Buxton, Cecil E. Willcocks and Raymond Anderson, £3; Ernest George, Bert Tattley, Reginald A. Burrett, George L. Sandford, Robert James Keeling (each of two charges) and Albert Cuthbertson, £2 each.

On charges of speeding Harold D. Spinley, Edward Norman Lynd, Thomas McKelvie were each fined £2; Charles R. Garton, Coleridge A. Scown, and Colin Siddle, £l. McKelvie was also fined £1 for not having a driver's licence and 10s for pillion riding. Lvnd's licence was ordered to be endorsed.

Bert May was fined £2 for negligent driving, and James B. Buck, £1 for a similar offence. For having inefficient brakes Buck was ordered to pay costs. The following fines were imposed for having insufficient lights:—George Thomas Rumble and Huia Donaldson, £1; Arthur T. Austin, Orient Astrella, Ellen Mary Allen, John S. Dickinson, Alfred Ormrod, Harry Porter, James Painton, David Shaw, Douglas Sharp, Albert Charles Wood, Daniel Weir, Alfred H. White, George A. H. Yern, 10s; and Henry Bardsley, ss. Painton was also fined £1 10s for passing a stationary tram, Yern £1 for not notifying change of address, Ormrod 10s for having no rear number plate, and White a similar amount for having no driver's licence. Fine erf 10s each were imposed 1 on the following for pillion riding:—William James Henry, Victor R. McCloughlen, Victor H. Tait. Charles Ford and Joseph F. Reece. Ford was also fined £1 for not having a driver's licence, and Tait 10s for not producing his' licence. Thomas A. Crotty, Robert Cochrane, Arthur Ripley, Norman George Fraser, Howard P. Richmond, Frederick C. Brown and John F. Findlay were each fined 10s for leaving cars unattended. For cutting corners. George Lee. Edward Hall, Alan E. Brendon and Truro Green were each fined £l.

Fines of 10s each were imposed on Albert E. Brickell and Stanley S. Scott for leaving cars facing in the wrong direction, on Eric C. Wilkins for leaving a car inside a safety zone area, on William 'Brown for not notifying change of ownership, on George P. Patterson for not giving way to a vehicle approaching from the right, and on Thomas C. Minsher for riding on the footpath. John Gibson was fined £2 for turning to the right in Queen Street during prohibited hours, and Harold D. Spinley was similarly dealt with for not having a taxicah licence.

For passing a stationary tram, Charles MacCartnev was fined £l. while Edward Phillip Richards was similarly dealt with. Frederick S. Bignell was fined 10s for failing to report accidents. For having no number plates, Neil C. Grant was fined ss.

William Pickers was fined £5 for not having a heavy traffic licence for a motorlorrv. Daniel Finnigan, for leaving a car "unattended and for having no lights, was fined £1 on each charge.
