CANDIDATES AT TAKAPUNA. REQUEST TO MR. WILLIAMSON. Although the election, does not take place until the end of April, considerable interest is already being shown in the selection of candidates for the Takapuna Mayoralty. " A deputation is to wait upon Mr. Julius ' Williamson, of Clifton Road, Takapuna, this evening asking him to accept nomination. Mr. Williamson, who is the third son of Mr. Charles Williamson, the veteran Auckland journalist, has lived at Takapuna for 45 years, and has been a member of the Borough Council since 1919. When asked yesterday, whether ho would be a candidate for re-election, Mr. J. D. Morison, the present Mayor, said he had been approached by numerous ratepayers, but as yet had mado no decision. He would be in a position to give a. defin-. ite answer within a few days. Among those whose names are mentioned are the Hon. E. W. Alison, Mr. Thomas Hanna and Mr. A. H. Wilkie, the last-named being a member of the Borough Council.
POSITION AT BERKEHHEAD.
MR. SKBATBS TO STAND 'AGAIN* The Mayor of Birkenhead, Mr. SL G. Skeates, intimated to the Borough Council that, in response to the unanimous desire of members and requests from various ratepayers, ho would consent to bo nominated for re-election. Ho would do his best to help 'the borough and he would b.o glad to see all the members-stand for re-election.. The .decision of Mr. Skeates to accept nomination was received with applause.
