The Naval Bill was debated in the Senate to-day. Mr. F, B. Willis, member for Delaware, Ohio, opposed the vote fof building three additional scout cruisers. He said there was no danger of wax* with the British Empire. In the course of a colloquoy with Mr. F. Hale;, member for Portland, Oregon, who urged that the vote should be passed, Mr. Willis said Mr. Hale knew that if there were to be war with Britain, the United States would win "through the hostages we have at out' very door." Mr. Willis added that the United States would invade Canada and annex that Dominion immediately. "I decline to be alarmed about this nightmare of the navy," Mr. Willis declared. Mr. J. T. Robinson, member for Little Rock, Arkansas, said he was interested in what Mr, Willis had said about invading Canada. Carrying out the same analogy, if the United States went to war with Japan, the latter would immediately seize the Philippines, Hawaii and menace the Panama Canal.
