MAIN HIGHWAYS BOARD.
AUCKLAND TO WELLSFORD.' QUESTION OF THE ROUTE. [BY 'TELEGRAPH.—OWN 1 CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. The Main Highways Board, at a meeting to-day, ; decided to recommend the adoption of what is generally known as the eastern route between Auckland and Wellsford, through Dairy Flat* Silverdale and Waiwera. The board is, however, postponing its final decision until it visits the locality next month. It will then take the opportunity of traversing the routes and of obtaining local knowledge to assist it in making its final selection. A further application for retrospective payment for sign-posting carried out by motor associations prior to September, 1925, was considered, but the board de-cided-that it could not pay any subsidies for work done prior to that date. Applications for new highways wero deferred" for consideration until the annual "review in March or April.
