AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. SENIOR A GAMES POSTPONED. OTHERS RESUME ON JANUARY 0. No senior A grade matches will be played under the auspices of the Auckland Cricket Association on January 8 owing to the depletion of the ranks of senior elevens by the absence o£ players with tho representative team and the ;team. which will: make u holiday tour in Hawke's Bay and the East Coast. The advisability of resuming the competitions on January 8, as decided the previous week, was raised at last evening's meeting of tho Management Committee, The University Club asked for reconsideration of the decision, it being pointed out that five members of the senior team would be absent, ana it was impossible to draw upon the junior teams, wnich would also ue depleted. The North Shore Club wrote to similar effect, and suggested that its match against Eden be completed on January 29, Anniversary Day. Mr. H. iiorspool contended that all matches should resume on January 8 as previously decided, but the general feeling was that, in view of the circumstances, it would be farcical to resume senior A matches, at least, on January 8. As a series of matches had been commenced, last week replacements could not bo made for i the concluding day's play, and it was pointed out that, in that case, some of the clubs could field only four or five players. University, North Shore and Eden were the clubs most seriously allected. The previous motion was rescinded and it was decided that all matches, except those in the senior A grade, be resumed on January 8. A meeting will be held on January 12 to discuss tho position as it affects the senior A grade matches. A suggestion was made tha-t the senior A matches be resumed on January 15, and that play in the next series should be all day on January 29 in order to make up the leeway, as the Plunket Shield match against Wellington would be in progress on January '22. •It was decided to congratulate Mr. Douglas Hay on his appointment as manager of the New Zealand team to tour Britain next year. i Permission was granted to Mr. IF. B. Goldsworthy to take a team to Thames during tho Christmas holidays. WELLINGTON REPRESENTATIVES. TEAM TO MEET OTAGO. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] WELLINGTON. Tuesday.
