DAIRYING OUTLOOK.

COMPARISON OF PRICES. DOMINION AND DENMARK. f ARRIVALS IN BRITAIN. MORE EVEN DISTRIBUTION. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORTIESPONIIENT. ] ■WELLINGTON. Thursday. In reviewing the prospects of the London market the New Zealand Dairy Produce Exporter states that a brisk movement has been witnessed since the last issue and prices have been lifted from 146s and 154s to 170s and 1765, but from the latter figure have eased back to 170s. The prospects ahead are fair and rather better than at this period ' last year. Twelve months ago at this stage produce held up in New Zealand by the utterly unwarranted shipping strike was just beginning to reach London in volume and sympathetically London's price crashed from 210s to 1765. 'lhe disservice rendered to our dairy industry by that labour difficulty must he held responsible for a good deal of the unfortunate marketing experience of the past twelve months. It backed up supplies and forced factories on to a holding policy in respect of a greater ;volume than otherwise would have been the case. Farmers are certainly entitled to protest at such unreasonable labour interference with vital transport needs and have cause to remember the sustained losses occasioned by the shipping strike of 1925. ♦ Hope ol Steadying Eflect. Arrivals this year are on a better basis than last year as the tables below show. Last January s butter arrivals totalled 526,568 boxes. This year's anticipated figures are 351,000, and of this quantity the bulk falls late in the month. The better spread this year, together with the board's marketing policy, should have a steadying effect upon the usual January drop, more particularly as firmness is indicated by the position in Canada and Australia. Cheese has shown a healthy recovery which is very gratifying. This is due to the miners resuming, consumption, and the absorption of old stocks. 1 respective arrivals here, too, are on a better basis than last year. Prompt despatch has been aimed at in connection with al cheese so far made. December-January arrivals total • 217,000 crates against 291,000 for the same months last season •when the strike accumulations fell on the market. The Range of Prices.
