AIR FORCE FATALITIES

THE TOTALS IN BRITAIN. COMPARISON WITH FRANCE. A. aud N.Z. . LONDON, Dec. 15. Details of fatalities in the Air Force were given in the House of Commons bySir Samuel Hoare, Minister of War. He said the total number killed in the Air Force in 1924 comprised 48 officers, one cadet . and 23 airmen. In 1925 40 officers and LI airmen were killed, and in 1926 the . figures were 46 officers, two cadets and 23 airmen. Although the statistics of the French Air Force were not published it was stated ,in a debate in the Chamber that there were 13 fatalities with the single type of machine within two months. It was apparent from other confidential information that the suggestion that there were fewer accidents in the French Air Force was totally inaccurate. The Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, said he could not order an independent inquiry to investigate all the circumstances of Air Force fatalities.
