AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE J i GOOD BUSINESS IN BANKS. J The banking section was the most active on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday, a considerable number .of sales taking place. The demand for Government securities was lighter and the market closed without any business being recorded. The only change on Wednesday's rates was in Inscribed Stock, 1927-41, 5-| per cent., for which offers declined 10s to £97 10s. Quotations were easier by 5s at £9B 15s. Although sales were made freely in banks the market rates showed only minor alterations compared with Wednesday. Commercials of Australia were done at 32s and Nationals of New Zealand at £7 Is 6d. New Zealands changed hands 1 at 59s 3d, the same price as on the previous day. Unions of Australia sold at i £ls 5s 6d, ao improvement of Is 6d on Wednesday's selliag figure. In insurance South British closed firmer at 57s and 55s 9c!. Standards sold at 57s 6d, the sale being the first since the middle of October. In ga„i Aucklands had sale at . 23s lid, more being available at 23s lOd, : buyers 23s 7d In mining Moanataiaris, j contributing, changed hands at 4s 7d to i 4s 9d.
