UNION NON-POLITICAL. BREAK FROM LABOUR PARTY. DECISIVE VOTE F^ECORDED. By Telegraph—Press ; Association —Copyright. (Reeeivde 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON. Dec. 14. A ballot taken by the National Union of Seamen rejected political affiliations by 13,936 votes to 2382. ■Mr. Havelock Wilson, president- of the union, explaining the decision, says the anion is now entirely non-political .and has completely severed from the Labour Party. It is pointed out that the members of the union- will in future not pay a levy for political purposes. The Daily News says the decision of the seamen is the logical outcome of the policy which Mr. Havelock Wilson has advocated with increasing zeal for many years., lie has opposed affiliation with both the Labour Party and'the Trade Unions with more extreme tendencies.
