Difficulty was experienced by motorists on the north side of White's Bridge yesterday when the Waimakariri River burst through the bank and covered the road to a depth of about 2ft- Owners of cars returning to the city from the sale at Rangiora left their chicles at Kaiapoi and proceeded by trim. After nine o'clock at night the ri\e<. commenced to fall rapidly.
