ROADING TEE RANGES.
THE WEST COAST ROUTE. ORATIA TAKING ACTION. RATEPAYERS FAVOUR POLL. A meeting of ratepayer:; in the Gratia portion of the Waikumele riding was held at Gratia last evening to discuss matters in connection with the West Coast Road, particulars of which appeared in yesterday's Herald. Captain P. Theet, chairman of the Waiteniata County Council presided and Mr. H. Moor, the riding member, and the county engineer, were also present. The meeting declared itself in favour of the proposal to borrow an additional £9OOO to lay down a 9ft. strip of concrete to the foothills, a distance of three miles. This would call for the formation of a special rating area comprising all the riding on the west side of the railway line. It was decided that the following proposals should be submitted to a poll of ratepayer;; to be held in April - (1) A "concrete strip, 9ft. wide, for the entire lepgth. (2) Concrete for 55 chains only. (3) A macadamised road aii provided for in the original loan proposal carried about nine months ago.
