SOLDIER PATIENTS.
greetings and gifts. Seasonal gifts and greti:ugs from the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Association .were conveyed to the men in the Evelyn "Firth Home and the T.B. shelters in the Domain yesterday by a party representing the Patriotic Association and the Auck-land-Returned Soldiers' Association. The president of the Patriotic Association, Sir James Gunson, two members, Messrs. A. G. Lunn and E. J. Phelan, the secretary,. Mr. T. B. Kay, and the secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association, Mr. E. H. Sharp, comprised the party, and as this was the* last official visit for the year each of the inmates was presented with tobacco or cigarettes and an order enabling them to purchase an article either for themselves or as a gift for a friend. Sir James Gunson, in making the presentations, spoke an encouraging word to each of the men and conveyed to them the best wishes of the Patriotic Association for a happy Christmas,. The life of the men at the T.B. shelters has been considerably brightened by the recent gift by the Patriotic Association of a five-valve wireless set. This installation enables the patients to listen in to programmes broadcasted from the principal .New Zealand and Australian stations.
