MEMORIAL CARILLON.
TENDERS TO BE CALLED. THE WELLINGTON SCHEME. FOREIGN FIRMS '. EXCLUDED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLINGTON, Wednesday At a meeting of the general committee of the Wellington War Memorial Carillon Society, presided over by Mr. H. D. Bennett, it was unanimously decided to call for tenders forthwith within tho British Empire for the supply of a grand carillon of 49 bells, fittings, hand clavier or keyboard. strong and massive fabricated steel framework, and practice clavier. The framework is to be constructed to be capable of ultimately carrying 54 bells. It was also decided to ask for a price for the erection, of the bells locally. Tenders for the carillon will closa on February 28, 1927. . It was stated: at the meeting that it would probably be two years before the bells were landed in Wellington.
