TREATY OF POWERS.
GERMANY AND ;? ITALY. EARLY COMPLETION EXPECTED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 14. The Geneva correspondent of the Daily Chronicle says Herr Strescmann, German Foreign Minister, is shortly going to spend a holiday at the Italian Lakes. He suffers from heart and kidney troubled The German Cabinet insists*that he ■ should always he accompanied by a physician, whose chief anxiety is the number of cigars which the patient smokes from morning until niglft. While he is in Italy Herr Stresemann will meet Signor Mussolini, Prime' Minister of Italy, and the Italo-German Treaty will then be signed. A report received from Geneva last week stated that a treaty between Germany and Italy would shortly be signed. It was stated that Herr Stresemann had declined an invitation from Signor Mussolini to visit Rome foi the purpose of affixing his signature to the treaty, as he feared his action might be misinterpreted. Herr Stresemann assured M. Briand that tho treaty was simply concerned with arbitration, and was devoid of any other political significance.
