CHANGE IN WEATHER.
WELCOME RAIN \H CITY. A FALL IN TEMPERATURE* The sultry weather which prevailed in Auckland for several days gave place yesterday evening to cooler conditions, as a result of heavy rain which fell almost incessantly for several hours. The rainfall in the suburbs was particularly heavy, and was accompanied by frequent, distant claps of thunder. Heavy clouds made conditions oppressively hot during the early part of the day. Rain set in shortly after four o'clock, bringing welcome relief to gardens and orchards. The northerly breeze veered round to the west, and as a result there was a noticeable fall in the temperature duriing the evening. The rainfall for the 24 hours ended at midnight was .82in.
