THE CAPE EFFECT

Capes and cape-draperies are well to the front in the race of fashion. A very influential • dressmaker in the Place Vendome is showing long, full capes of double crepe which completely hide the dress, says a fashion writer. These models are elaborately gathered on the shoulders and finished with a long scarf tie, the ends finished with silken fringes. They are immensely wide and when worn over tho ultrashort frocks of to-day 'present a quaint silhouette. Far more becoming are the three-quarter-length cape 3 which allow a few inches of skirt to show. Exceedingly attractive long coats and capes are made of crepe georgette lined with the same material. Georgette is mora popular than crepe do chine this summer, especially in a bright shade of navy blue. Many of the newest evening frocks have cape-draperies dangling from the shoulders, and very attractive they look when the wearer dances.
