END OF SCHOOL YEAR.
DISTRIBUTION OF PHIZES. THE DILWORTH INSTITUTE. The annual distribution of prizes was made at the Dilworth Institute last evening by Archbishop Averill, there being a large attendance of parents and old boys. Archdeacon G. MacMurrav, chairman ol the trust board, presided, and associated with him on the platform were Professor A. P, W, Thonias, Mr. H. B. Morton and Mr. E. Makgijl, trustees.
The headmaster, Mr. - Noel Gibson,; stated in his annual report that there had been a distinct increase in the size of the school during the year as the result of thß opening of. Dilworth House, where about 20 boys were in residence. The work of. the school had been inspected by Archbishop Averill and inspectors of the Education Department,, and the standard maintained wa:s shown bj? the fact tht nine proficiency certificates were gained from ten candidates. 0£ those boys leaving half had attended secondary schools, which was a considerable tribute to the work of the trust board. Games had been pursued much as usual, and visit 3 had been paid during the football season by teams front Southwell School, Hamilton. The old boya had played cricket against the school on several occasions. Reference was made by Mr. Gibson to the resignation of Mr. R. Nicolas from* the staff, after a connection with the school extending over 18 years. The primate, in a short address, recalled his associations with the school, extending over 13 years, and said the more he thought of it the more he was brought 'to believe that 'the institute was destined to play a great part in the Dominion and especially in tho educational work of Auckland. His Grace paid a tribute to the work of Mr. Gibson, who,' he said, interested himself, unceasingly in the welfare of the boys and " the school, and to the Rev. G. C. Cruiclbhahk for his work on behalf of the institute. Following is the list of prize-winners.:— Holloway Memorial prize.—K. V, Marshall. Divinity.—Standards V. and VI., G. D. The annuial prize-giving ceremony oi King's College will take place on the school grounds, Middlemore, next Thursday afternoon. All parents arid friends _ of the pupils and members of the Old Boys* Association are invited to attend. A train willl leave the city at 1.58 P- m -
