AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE THE WEEK'S TRANSACTIONS. Business was quiet on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday, particularly in the mining section, which closed with only one sale being recorded, a marked change from the activity of the earlier days of the week. There walrsome alteration in offers for Government securities. War Loans, 1938 and 1939, 4£ per cent., were wanted at £96 15s, thus dropping back 2s 6d to Wednesday's offers. Tha 1927, 5 per cents., also went back 2s 6d to £9B 15s. On the other hand, the 4£ per cent. Inscribed Stocks, 1938 and 1939, attracted offers of £97, an advance of 2s 6d on the previous day. Sale was made of the 1939 issue at £97, quotations of £97 5s for the two issues then being withdrawn. In banks offers for Nationals of New Zealand were slightly better at £7, sellers unchanged at £7 2s. New Zealands were easier, the market opening and closing at 59s 6d and 595. In gas Aucklands were done at 245, more being available at that figure, buyers 23s lOd. Following is a summary of transactions since Friday of last week.
