APPRECIATION OF WORK.
KING'S SCHOOL PRINCIPAL. The services rendered to King's School, Remuera, by the principal, Mr. S. Clifton Smith, who is shortly leaving to join the staff of Sydney Grammar School,, were referred! to by speakers at the prize-giving function yesterday. Archbishop Averill said it was with extreme regret they learned that Mr. Clifton Smith was leaving the school, He had achieved splendid results in the training of the boys. At all times he had taken the keienest interest in tho school and the boys. They owed their thanks also to Mrs. Clifton Smith for her interest :n the welfare of the pupils. The best compliment llhey could pay would be to" carry on the work begun *so welL Professor R. M. Algie, chairman of the Board of Governors, said parents of the school had arranged for a presenta tion to Mr. - and Mrs. Clifton Smith Splendid donations had been givca and they hoped the presentation would be worthy of the occasion. Ho asked Mr. and Mrs. Smith to meet parents at the school next i Wednesday afternoon. "In laying down the reins of office I look Iback on. five years of earnest en deavoar, which, I feel, has not been with out success—success which has been mads* possible by the ever-ready co-operation and sympathetic consideration of parents," Mr. Clifton Smith said, '"I wish publiclv to acknowledge my personal indebtedness to my wife for the unselfish assistance which for five years she has given me op the highly technical matters pf food, care and health of the boys.'-
