MAKE YOUR OWN ROSES.
The large, floppy artificial roses so much worn just now are very expensive to buy, but quite cheap and easy to make at homo. Half a yard of material makes one. The best effect is got by using two different materials of exactly the same colour, and making a petal of each alternately—they look much more " professional" made this way. , In this case, of course, you need a quarter of a yard of each. Crepe do chine combines well with woollen marocain and georgette with ninon or chiSon. Cut out the petals in graduated sizes, then tack the smallest firmly together and work outwards to the largest, always sowing from underneath. Finish the inmost centre with a few stitches in coarse embroidery silk in a contrasting colour, to represent the stamens in the centre of the rose. In this way you can easily make a flower to match every frock or coat you wear and their effectiveness is out of all proportion to their cost.
