The decision of the Imperial Conference regarding the desirability of encouraging Empire films has resulted in the Government having a bill drafted to prevent blind and block booking. The measure will also provide for a compulsory quota of Empire films to be screened on each programme. This will begin at 5 per cent. The operation of the quota, however, ■will be postponed for one year from the date of the legislation in order to enable producers to meet the demand.
