DESTRUCTION BY FIRE.
LARGE RESIDENCE: RAZED. BUILDING OF FIFTEEN ROOMS* [BY telegraph.—press association.] LEVIN, Saturday, A fire at 1.00 this morning destroyed as 15-roomed residence afc Ihakara, owned by Mrs. J. Potts, of Pairaerstoa North, and occupied by Mr. B. C. Russell, sharemilker. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The insurances on the house in the State Office and £440 on the furniture. SIX-.UOGMED HOUSE BURNED. OUTBREAK NEAR WHAKATANE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHAKATANE, Saturday. A residence of six rooms at Otakiri, owned by Mr. A. Tooman, of Auckland, and occupied by Mr. C. F. Stewart, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon, Jt is believed that the outbreak originated ::j a chimney.
