HILL-CLIMBING TESTS.

FAST TIMES RECORDED. ONE RIDER FRACTURES RIBS. The hill-climbing tests of the Sports Motor-Cycle Club, a3 a preliminary to the championships in January, were concluded on Saturday under favourable conditions There were good entries, and the hazardous tests were completed with only one accident. This befel W. Allan, who had a spill while competing in the final of the open class, which was necessitated by four of the competitors making an equal time of 9 4-ss. Prior to the events D. L. Humphries had a spill while practising, and as a' result sustained a fracture of the ribs. He was attended by members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and was taken to his home. The ribbons won by competitors were presented to them by Miss Distin Strange. Results were as follow: Open Class.—P. Butler, 21 A.J.S., 9 2-ss, 1; H. B. Hunt, Si h.p. Triumph. 9 4-ss. 2; O. S'hakeapear. 7-9 h.p. Harley Davidson. 10s, 3. There were four starters, including W Allan on his 3J h.p. Norton, each of whom made the slope in 9 4-ss. In the run-off Allan had a spill while nearing the summit. Heavy-weight Class.—O. Shakespear. 7-9 h.p. Harley-Davidson. 10 3-ss, 1; F. R. Pickering, 7-9 Harley Davidson, 11 2-ss. 2: J. H. RatclifFe, 7-9 Harley-Davidson, 14s. 3. Only starters. 4 h.p. Class.—R. Moorcroft, 3} h.p. A.J.S., 9 l-ss, 1; N B. Hunt, 8} h.p. Triumph. 9 2-ss, 2: W. Allan, 3i h.p. Norton, lis. 3. Eleven starters.
