HOLIDAY TRAINS.

THE MAIN TRUNK SERVICE.. MANY EXTRA .EXPRESSES. OPUA AND ROTORUA LINES. Last-minuite holiday-makers at Christmas and New Year will be well catered for by the extra express train services on the main lines. From December 20 up to Christmas Eve and on December 27 and January 2 aad 3, a relief train to Wellington will leave Auckland at 8.40 p.m., arriving at Wellington at 2.20 p.m. the following afternoon. This train will carry the surplus traffic from the night limited and the ordinary express. From Wellington, a relief train will leave at 3.56 p.m. from December 20 to 24 and on January 1, 2 and 3, arriving at Auckland at 7.49 the following morning. Relief expresses will also run from Wellington to Auckland on the nights of December 23 and 24 to or,so the pressure on the night limited. This train is to leave at 8.30 p.m. a'fid will roach Auckland at 1.21 p.m. the following day. Passengers from the King Courtry to Auckland on Christmas Evo and New Year's Day will he catere.d for by the sending on of the 7.45 a.m. train from Taumarunm, which usually stops at Frankton .Junction, and the train will arrive at Auckland at 4.45 p.m. Corresponding down trains will leavo Auckland at 1012 a.m., reaching Taumaruinui at 6,50 p.m. In addition, an express relief train will run ahead of the daylight limited from To Kuiti to Auckland on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eire, leaving To Kuiti at 6.40 p.m. and arriving at Auckland at 10.54 p.m. The increase in the traffic on tho Kaipara lino has been such that the department will put relief trains on thi3 routo also. On December 23, 24 and 27 and op January 3 and 4 a train will leave Auckland for Whangarei at 9.15 a.m., reaching its destination at 3.35 p.m. The corresponding down trains will leave Whangarei at "12.35 p.m, arriving at Auckland at 7 p.m. Night trains to Opua and to Rotorua are to be run. from Auckland on Christmas Eve. The Opua train, which will cuter foi big-game fishermen, will leave at 10.30 p.m., arriving at Opua at 7.29 a.m. The Rotorua special will leave at 10.20 p.m., reaching Rotorua at 5.50 next morning. On Christmas Day only the ordinary Main Trunk expresses will run between Auckland and Wellington, the limited trains being cut out. The usual egress services will bo maintained on the night of Sunday, December 26. So popular was tho excursion to Waitomo Caves, from Auckland last Sunday that it is the intention of the department to run another excursion to-morrow week.
