FIRE IN A SCHOOL.

EXTENSIVE DAMAGE CAUSED. OUTBREAK AT PUKEKOHE'. MAJOR PART OF BUILDING SAVED [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] PUKEKOHE. Friday An outbreak of firo in tho metal-work building at tho Pukekohe Technical High School this morning caused damage esti mated at several hundred pounds. Tho fire apparently originated in the forge room. The flames reached the rafters and travelled along them over the central portion, which comprises a work-shop-classroom. The partition between the classroom and the forge room was also badly burned. Tho fire brigade soon had the firo under control, saving tho major portion of the building. The forge room was badly damaged and a large portion of the roofing was affected, but the plumbing room, entrance corridor, lockor room and agricultural storeroom suffered very little damage. The plant in the classroom included a valuable lathe and this appears to be undamaged, though desks, blackboard and walls have suffered from the heat, smoke and water.
