bishops deplore policy. A. and N.Z. CAPETOWN. Dec, 2 The bishops ■of the Anglican Church have issued a statement condemning the native bills promoted by the Prime Minis ter, General Bertzog, as being aimed at upholding the white civilisation ol South Africa at the expense of the native people. The bills, the bishops allege, are inspired by the white man's fear of the black man, and are inconsistent with the principles which should govern legislation affecting the native races.
